England's World Cup 2018/2022 bid
HMA David Blunt has added his name to the long list of supporters for England's World Cup 2018/2022 bid!!
Speaking on behalf of the entire staff, Ambassador Blunt left the following message on the official England 2018/2022 bid webpage: 'All of us at the British Embassy in Zagreb fully support the England 2018/2022 bid. England - Croatia in the final?'. Naturally, the predicted final was met with mass approval at the Embassy by both British and Croatian colleagues!
British and Croatian staff at the BE Zagreb have followed the Ambassador's lead and have also begun adding their names to the list of supporters. This Croatian support is particularly interesting given the fact that England hosts Croatia in a very important World Cup qualifying match--for next year's tournament in South Africa--in little less than a month, on 9 September 2009 at Wembley! Regardless of the possible outcome of that match, one Croatian staff member asked, 'What could be better than playing against England in the World Cup final at Wembley? If only I could get tickets!!', in a way echoing Ambassador Blunt's hopes for the finalists in 2018 or 2022.
Everyone can show their support for the England 2018/2022 bid by clicking onto the bid's official website www.england2018bid.com. The site was opened by the FA in May and has received visitors from all over the world since its launch.
Staff at the BE Zagreb are already anxiously awaiting December 2010 and the final decision on which country will get to host the World Cup--especially staff looking for tickets!
